Telehandler/Forklift Operator Location: Cocoa Beach, FL Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Shift: 1st Shift Pay Rate: Starts at $22.00 per hour (Higher rates available depending on experience) We are currently hiring a Telehandler/Forklift Operator for a structural steel fabrication environment in Cocoa Beach, FL. This is a full-time, first-shift opportunity offering consistent hours and competitive starting pay. Position Overview In this role, you will be responsible for handling and moving structural steel materials within a fabrication yard using powered equipment. You’ll support daily operations by ensuring materials are properly staged, organized, and ready for production or shipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate telehandlers and forklifts to move, stage, and load/unload I-beams, columns, plates, and fabricated steel components.
  • Organize yard inventory and stage materials for production, shipping, and erection schedules.
  • Read shop drawings, pick lists, and material tags to identify steel components accurately.
  • Load trucks, secure materials, and coordinate with drivers and shop personnel.
  • Complete routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance; report mechanical or safety concerns.
  • Follow OSHA safety standards, company procedures, and proper rigging and material-handling practices.

Requirements

  • Experience operating telehandlers, forklifts, or similar heavy equipment in a steel yard or construction setting.
  • Ability to handle large structural steel members safely.
  • Basic ability to read blueprints or material tags preferred.
  • Knowledge of rigging, load balancing, and safe material handling.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and lift 50+ lbs as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
