Claim / Ownership / Verification Terms

These terms govern Venture claims, ownership assertions, verification, disputes, impersonation reports, ownership corrections, and transfers on Barber Career Map. They supplement the general Terms of Use and Venture Terms.

Claiming an unclaimed Venture

A signed-in user may submit a claim only for a published, non-archived Venture that is currently unclaimed and has no active owner, subject to BCM eligibility, rate-limit, and abuse-protection rules.

  • Submitting a claim does not establish ownership or control of the Venture.
  • A pending claim does not grant owner rights, edit rights, Employer rights, Job control, verification, Pioneer status, or any other owner-only privilege.
  • A claimant must provide a supported evidence method and meaningful supporting information. Current claim evidence methods are Website, Company email/domain, Social profile, and Other.
  • BCM may review the submitted evidence, account information, Venture history, related records, and other relevant information before deciding a claim.
  • BCM may approve or reject a pending claim. Approval creates or activates an owner membership and marks the Venture claimed; rejection does not grant ownership.

Claim review and owner membership

Claim review is an administrative BCM process. BCM does not promise automatic approval, a particular review time, or successful claiming of every Venture, including discovery-created Ventures.

  • A Venture may not receive a new approved claim while another active owner already controls it under the current workflow.
  • When a claim is approved, the claimant becomes an active Venture owner through BCM's membership system.
  • Ownership status is a BCM product record used to determine account permissions and public/control state. It is not an independent legal adjudication of corporate, trademark, property, contractual, or beneficial ownership outside BCM.
  • Historical claim and ownership records may be retained for audit, integrity, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

Verification

Verification is a separate state from ownership. Under the current workflow, an active Venture owner may request verification after the Venture is claimed, subject to BCM controls.

  • Current verification methods are Company email/domain, Website/domain ownership, Social/business profile, and Other supporting evidence.
  • A submitted verification request becomes pending until BCM reviews it. BCM may mark the request verified or rejected based on the reviewed evidence and related information.
  • Verification confirms that BCM reviewed the submitted connection or evidence under its process. It does not guarantee business quality, legality, solvency, identity beyond the reviewed connection, conduct, safety, hiring status, accuracy of every profile field, or future accuracy.
  • Verification is optional for ordinary public Ventures unless a particular BCM recognition feature applies stronger eligibility requirements, such as Pioneer.
  • An unverified Venture may still be public. Verification is not permanent or irrevocable, and BCM may suspend, revoke, or revisit verification when integrity, safety, legal, or accuracy concerns arise.

Discovery-created and unclaimed Ventures

BCM may create and publish source-backed Venture records through its discovery workflows. Those Ventures may remain public while unclaimed.

  • Public availability of an unclaimed or discovery-created Venture does not mean BCM has verified an owner or endorsed the Venture.
  • A discovery-created Venture is not guaranteed to be claimable successfully by any particular person.
  • Claims for discovery-created Ventures use the same BCM claim/review framework and do not automatically establish ownership.

Ownership disputes and impersonation

BCM supports ownership-dispute and impersonation-review workflows for identity, control, and representation concerns. Filing a dispute or impersonation report does not automatically transfer ownership, remove a Venture, establish the reporter as owner, or prove wrongdoing.

  • BCM may review explanations, supporting evidence, account history, Venture history, claim records, verification records, relationship records, and related audit information.
  • Impersonation matters may be dismissed, resolved, routed into ownership review, or result in temporary or permanent Venture restrictions where appropriate.
  • BCM may temporarily restrict, unpublish, pause, archive, or otherwise limit a Venture while reviewing material ownership, impersonation, safety, fraud, or legal concerns.

Ownership corrections and transfers

Ownership correction and transfer must use BCM's existing audited administrative process. Users must not attempt to bypass that process by manipulating accounts, memberships, claims, Employer access, or public Venture data.

  • The current transfer workflow requires the Venture to have exactly one active owner before transfer and requires the receiving user to have an active BCM account.
  • A transfer removes the prior active owner membership and creates or activates the new owner's membership while preserving a durable ownership-transfer record.
  • A transfer may be associated with a pending ownership dispute when BCM determines that is appropriate. Resolving or rejecting a dispute is recorded separately from the transfer itself.
  • Ownership is not irreversible. BCM may later correct ownership records through the same controlled process if new evidence, fraud, error, dispute resolution, legal requirements, or platform-integrity concerns justify a correction.

Venture and Employer authority are separate

Venture ownership and Employer authority are separate BCM permission systems.

  • Owning a Venture does not automatically grant ownership, administrative access, or control of an Employer account, Jobs, or Career Hubs.
  • Employer ownership or administrative authority does not automatically grant Venture ownership.
  • A Venture↔Employer association does not replace or bypass either ownership system and does not itself verify a Venture or Employer.

Private evidence and review records

Claim, verification, dispute, impersonation, and ownership-review evidence is handled as private operational information rather than ordinary public Venture profile content.

  • Claim evidence is private to the claimant and authorized BCM review workflows.
  • Verification evidence is private to the submitting owner and authorized BCM review workflows.
  • Impersonation evidence and ownership-dispute details/history are private operational records and are not ordinary public profile content.
  • Administrative decision notes, review history, ownership-transfer records, and audit records are private operational records except where BCM is required or permitted to disclose information by law or where a limited public status is part of the product.

BCM review authority and abuse protections

BCM may request additional supporting information, investigate related records, enforce rate limits or duplicate protections, and use administrative review to protect ownership integrity and the service.

  • BCM may reject, restrict, correct, suspend, unpublish, archive, or otherwise moderate Venture records when reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, impersonation concerns, ownership integrity, safety, legal compliance, or platform integrity.
  • Submitting false, misleading, fabricated, stolen, manipulated, or unauthorized evidence, or attempting to misuse claims, verification, disputes, transfers, or impersonation reporting, may result in rejection, restriction, suspension, or other enforcement under BCM's terms.
  • BCM does not promise that its review constitutes a legal determination of ownership and does not independently guarantee the legal rights asserted by any claimant, owner, reporter, Employer, or third party.

Relationship to other BCM terms

These terms address Venture claim, ownership, verification, dispute, impersonation, correction, and transfer rules. General Venture behavior remains governed by the Venture Terms and general Terms of Use. Employer authority remains governed by Employer Terms. Paid-placement disclosures and Venture subscription/cancellation terms are addressed separately where applicable.
