About the role
Lead a team of technicians and temporary labor to ensure rental equipment is pulled, staged, inspected, and ready for shipment on time. Oversee daily workflow, quality control, equipment checks, and department organization while maintaining accurate inventory tracking and coordinating staffing needs, repairs, and supply shortages with the Warehouse Manager. Train technicians and ensure department standards and deadlines are consistently met.
Core Responsibilities
• Lead a department team of technicians and assigned temp labor, reporting to the Warehouse Manager
• Assign orders to technicians for pulling, staging and QC, and confirm all orders are 100% pulled on the Outbound Pulling Dashboard
• Ensure all orders with a next-day stage date are staged and in the staging area by end of day
• Make sure daily equipment checks are completed within 30 minutes of shop opening
• Hold the department to QC standards so only gear that has passed QC goes out on rental, and route failed equipment to repair
• Maintain barcode and RFID tags and drive consistent RFID scanning in the department
• Flag orders at risk for the next day, along with temp or extra labor needs
• Report equipment and supply shortages to the Warehouse Manager and submit department shop supply orders
• Keep the department clean and organized to the daily, weekly and monthly standards
• Train and develop technicians, and support physical inventory counts when directed
Electronics:
• Oversee cleaning, inspection and testing of all electronics before rental
• Equipment scope: lighting consoles, data distribution (DMX splitters, network switches, nodes), power distros, dimmers, intercom, followspots, and foggers/hazers
• Troubleshoot and verify control, data and power equipment, and complete repair check-in process with Service department when necessary
Rigging:
• Oversee inspection, maintenance and QC of all motors and rigging equipment before rental
• Equipment scope: box truss, pre-rig truss and dance towers, chain motors and motor distros, shackles, load cells, pear rings, STAC chain, steel, round slings (GAC Flex, Spansets), ground support, and fall arrest equipment
• Maintain a safety-first culture in the department, given that this gear is load-bearing and life-safety critical
Requirements
• Experience in entertainment lighting, live event production, or a rental warehouse environment
• Prior lead or supervisory experience, including assigning work and holding a team to deadlines
• Comfortable working in a warehouse management system and handheld scanners; RFID experience is a plus
• Strong organization and attention to detail; able to manage multiple orders against fixed ship dates
• Clear communicator with the Warehouse Manager, other departments and Project Managers
• Reliable, consistent and process-minded; buys into doing things one best way
• Able to lift heavy equipment and work on your feet in a warehouse setting
Technical Specialties
Candidates must have hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas:
• Electronics: working knowledge of DMX and Ethernet-based lighting control, power distribution, and basic electrical troubleshooting. Hands-on console or networking experience is a strong plus
• Rigging: working knowledge of chain motors, truss and rigging hardware, and inspection practices. Motor maintenance experience and certification (e.g., ETCP Rigging) are strong pluses
Benefits
• Opportunity to lead a technical team in the live entertainment industry.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
• Salary: $17–$22 per hour, depending on experience.
