Welding & Fabrication Foreman Location: York, PA Job Type: Direct Hire Pay: Starting at $39/hour, higher depending on experience, plus $3/hour second-shift differential Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Welding & Fabrication Foreman to lead second-shift shop operations. This role oversees employees, production activities, equipment, materials, scheduling, and quality while keeping fabrication work on track for safe and timely delivery. The Foreman works closely with fabrication, project management, logistics, purchasing, and other departments to coordinate production and resolve operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide direction to welders, fitters, and other shop employees.
  • Oversee daily fabrication activities, personnel, equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Ensure company policies, safety requirements, and quality procedures are followed.
  • Maintain and update production and fabrication schedules.
  • Coordinate deliveries and adjust workflow to support project deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain standard fabrication procedures.
  • Monitor finished work and maintain quality control standards.
  • Review production processes and recommend improvements to efficiency, employee performance, and quality.
  • Coordinate with other departments and facilities regarding schedules, production status, quality, and deliveries.
  • Maintain shop equipment and facility needs as required.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Monitor workload and communicate staffing or production needs to management.
  • Track inventory and coordinate material needs with the first-shift foreman, operations management, and purchasing.
  • Determine staffing and work hours needed to meet delivery schedules.
  • Make day-to-day decisions that support production goals and company interests.

Requirements

  • Previous foreman, supervisor, or management experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of the structural steel fabrication industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and lead welders and fitters.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
  • Must be available for 2nd shift, overtime, and Saturdays as needed.
