Structural Steel Fitter Welder
Location: Cocoa, FL
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift
Starting Pay: $24/hour, higher depending on experience
2nd Shift Differential: +$3/hour
Position Overview
We are hiring experienced Structural Steel Fitter Welders for a production fabrication shop. This hands-on role involves preparing and assembling steel components, working from fabrication drawings, performing structural welds, and ensuring finished assemblies meet required dimensions and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine layouts and fabrication requirements.
- Perform welding tasks according to project specifications and industry standards.
- Measure, cut, prepare, align, fit, and assemble metal and structural steel components.
- Set up and operate a track torch and use applicable welding equipment.
- Use fabrication tools and equipment, including oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, hand tools, and shop equipment safely.
- Inspect completed welds and assemblies for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
- Work with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures.
Requirements
- Previous welding, fitting, fabrication, or similar metalworking experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to set up and operate a track torch.
- Ability to pass all required Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) tests.
- Experience measuring, cutting, aligning, fitting, and assembling metal components.
- Familiarity with oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares.
- Welding certification, such as AWS, preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Commitment to quality and workplace safety.
