Position Overview
We are looking for experienced Structural Steel Welders/Fabricators to build and assemble steel components in a production fabrication shop. This hands-on position involves working from drawings, preparing and fitting steel, checking dimensions and alignment, and completing structural welds.
Responsibilities
- Review fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications before starting each assignment.
- Measure, mark, cut, fit, and position structural steel components.
- Assemble steel parts and verify proper fit-up and alignment.
- Perform structural welding according to project requirements and applicable standards.
- Set up and operate fabrication equipment, machinery, and hand tools.
- Use oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, drill presses, angle presses, jigs, tape measures, and squares.
- Set up and operate a track torch when required.
- Check dimensions, alignment, fit-up, and completed weldments for accuracy.
- Make adjustments as needed to maintain proper fit and quality.
- Work with supervisors and other fabrication personnel to meet production schedules.
- Keep tools and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow all required shop safety procedures and workplace practices.
Requirements
- Previous experience in structural steel welding, fitting, or fabrication.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience measuring, fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel.
- Familiarity with welding processes, fabrication equipment, and shop tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate measurements.
- Reliable attendance and commitment to safe work practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a production-oriented fabrication environment.
- Flux Core welding experience.
- Ability to successfully complete a Flux Core weld test.
- Experience setting up and operating a track torch.
- AWS or other welding certifications.
