About the role

Who are we? Smarsh empowers its customers to manage risk and unleash intelligence in their digital communications. Our growing community of over 6500 organizations in regulated industries counts on Smarsh every day to help them spot compliance, legal or reputational risks in 80+ communication channels before those risks become regulatory fines or headlines.  Relentless innovation has fueled our journey to consistent leadership recognition from analysts like Gartner and Forrester, and our sustained, aggressive growth has landed Smarsh in the annual Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing American companies since 2008. Smarsh is the leading provider of archiving and compliance solutions for companies in regulated and litigious industries. Our platform processes, controls, manages, and stores a broad spectrum of electronic communication channels — including email, social networks, instant messaging, SMS/MMS, voice, blogs, and wikis — at cloud scale. We use the latest in AI and ML technology to help our customers break new ground in compliance intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design, build, and ship features for Smarsh's enterprise compliance platform
  • Write clean, well-tested Java code across backend services and APIs
  • Work within a modern microservices architecture and contribute to distributed systems at scale
  • Participate in agile ceremonies — sprint planning, standups, retrospectives — as a full team member
  • Learn from code reviews, pair programming, and mentorship throughout your internship
  • Have the opportunity to apply AI tooling or ideas to real engineering problems

Requirements

  • Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering, Computer Science, or MCA
  • Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, and computer science fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with Core Java
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for building enterprise-grade applications
  • Mandatory: Built at least one project that incorporates AI — using an LLM API, an ML model, or an AI-powered feature — demonstrable via GitHub, a portfolio, or a live demo
