Senior Engineer I, Software Development - Insight QA

About the Role We are looking for an experienced Senior QA Engineer / QA Lead with 10–12 years of experience in cloud-based network management solutions to join our engineering team. The role will focus on end-to-end quality engineering for a cloud-hosted network management platform, managing and monitoring networking devices such as Access Points, Switches and Routers. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in testing cloud-managed networking solutions, with a combination of networking, AWS/cloud, REST APIs, Python automation, TypeScript/Playwright and end-to-end system testing. This role requires someone who can understand and validate the complete solution across: Network Device → LAN/WAN → Internet → AWS Cloud → Cloud Services/APIs → Database → Web/Mobile Application The candidate should be comfortable troubleshooting issues across both the networking and cloud/application layers. Key Responsibilities Cloud Network Management Testing • Own QA for a cloud-based network management platform from requirements through production. • Test end-to-end workflows for cloud-managed Access Points, Switches, Routers and other network devices. • Validate device onboarding, discovery, provisioning and configuration. • Test device-to-cloud communication and cloud-to-device operations. • Validate configuration synchronization between cloud and network devices. • Test device monitoring, health status, statistics, alerts and notifications. • Validate firmware/software upgrade workflows. • Test remote configuration and management capabilities. • Validate device connectivity, disconnect/reconnect and recovery scenarios. • Test multi-device, multi-site and large-scale network management scenarios. • Validate behavior under network failures, latency, packet loss and intermittent connectivity. • Test cloud-managed networking workflows across different network topologies and environments. Test Planning & Quality Ownership • Review requirements, user stories, functional specifications and technical designs. • Review ERDs and data models to understand relationships, dependencies and data flows. • Participate in architecture and design reviews from a QA perspective. • Identify functional, integration, data, networking and cloud risks. • Develop test strategy, test plans, test scenarios and test cases. • Define test scope, coverage, environments, dependencies and execution timelines. • Create positive, negative, boundary, failure-recovery and end-to-end scenarios. • Maintain requirements-to-test-case traceability. • Review test cases and ensure adequate coverage. Test Execution • Execute functional, integration, system, regression and end-to-end testing. • Perform cloud-to-device and device-to-cloud testing. • Test networking devices together with cloud services and applications. • Validate APIs, backend services, database state and UI behavior as part of end-to-end workflows. • Perform interoperability and compatibility testing. • Execute testing across different network configurations and connectivity conditions. • Analyze failures across device, network, cloud and application layers. API & Cloud Testing • Strong hands-on experience with REST API testing and automation. • Validate API request/response, authentication, authorization and business logic. • Test APIs used for device provisioning, configuration, monitoring and management. • Validate data consistency between APIs, cloud services, database and UI. • Test asynchronous workflows, events, notifications and service-to-service communication. • Test AWS-hosted cloud applications and services. • Validate cloud services, microservices and distributed workflows. • Analyze cloud logs, metrics, traces and application telemetry. • Test reliability, availability, scalability and failure/recovery scenarios. • Validate deployments across QA, staging and production environments. Networking Expertise Strong hands-on knowledge of networking is essential. Experience with: • TCP/IP • IPv4 / IPv6 • DHCP • DNS • ARP • ICMP • HTTP/HTTPS • TLS/SSL • NAT • Routing • Switching • VLAN • QoS • Ethernet • WAN/LAN • Wi-Fi technologies • WPA2/WPA3 • Wireless roaming • Network connectivity and troubleshooting Experience with Wi-Fi 5/6/6E/7 is highly desirable. Network Troubleshooting & Diagnostics Hands-on experience with tools such as: • Wireshark • tcpdump • ping • traceroute • iperf • nslookup/dig • Network packet capture and protocol analysis Ability to troubleshoot issues across: Device → LAN/WLAN → WAN/Internet → Cloud → API → Backend → Application The candidate should be able to use packet captures, logs, API traces and cloud telemetry to determine the root cause of complex issues. Test Automation Python • Strong hands-on experience developing Python-based test automation. • Build automation for APIs, cloud workflows and network management functionality. • Develop reusable test frameworks, libraries and utilities. • Automate device onboarding, configuration, monitoring and management scenarios. • Build regression automation for high-value customer workflows. • Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines. • Analyze automation failures and improve framework reliability. TypeScript / Playwright • Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript for test automation. • Hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium or equivalent. • Automate cloud-based web applications and network management workflows. • Develop end-to-end UI + API automation. • Build reusable automation components and utilities. • Maintain scalable and reliable regression suites. Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis • Own defects from identification through closure. • Create detailed defects with reproduction steps, logs, API traces, screenshots and packet captures where applicable. • Participate in defect triage and prioritization. • Collaborate with development, cloud, firmware and networking teams. • Perform defect retesting and regression validation. • Drive root-cause analysis for complex issues. • Identify recurring defect patterns and recommend preventive actions. • Ensure critical and customer-impacting issues are addressed before release. Release & Production Quality • Prepare test execution reports, defect summaries and release-quality metrics. • Provide QA recommendation/release sign-off based on defined quality criteria. • Perform production smoke testing and post-deployment validation. • Validate critical network management workflows after production deployment. • Monitor production health, logs, alerts and telemetry. • Validate production fixes and hotfixes. • Support customer escalations and production incident investigations. • Reproduce production issues in controlled environments. • Identify production quality trends and improve regression coverage. AI-Assisted QA & Agentic AI We encourage the use of modern AI technologies to improve quality engineering and test automation. Experience with tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or equivalent for: • Test-case generation • Automation development • Code analysis • Debugging • Log analysis • API test generation • Test-data generation • Defect analysis • Test coverage analysis is desirable.
