Paint & Load Operations Lead Location: Cocoa, FL Job Type: Full-Time Shift: 1st Shift; provides oversight for possible 2nd Shift operations Pay: Starting at $30.00/hour, with higher pay available depending on experience Position Overview Seeking an experienced Paint & Load Operations Lead to coordinate daily painting, blasting, and steel loading activities. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for workflow, employee training, quality control, documentation, safety, and meeting production and delivery schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily painting, sand blasting, and loading operations.
  • Help interview and select qualified or trainable team members.
  • Train and support new employees within the paint department.
  • Make sure required paint records and documentation are completed each day.
  • Use gauges, meters, and testing equipment to perform daily checks and verify proper operation and calibration.
  • Perform QA/QC inspections to confirm finished steel meets project and manufacturer requirements.
  • Review load tickets for accuracy and ensure information is entered correctly into production/shipping software.
  • Train employees on production and shipping software when needed.
  • Work with logistics, production, and management to assign painting and loading work according to production needs.
  • Monitor schedules and help ensure orders are ready for required delivery dates, including overtime and weekend work when necessary.
  • Identify process improvements and communicate recommendations to management.
  • Enforce safety procedures and address safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist with employee corrective action and progressive discipline when necessary.
  • Provide fair, consistent, and professional leadership.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a productive work environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in structural steel painting and/or loading operations.
  • At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of painting standards and quality control procedures.
  • Familiarity with production/shipping software preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, supervise, and hold employees accountable.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate work.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and enforcing safe work practices.
