Follow Shield AI on LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and YouTube. Job Description: Shield AI is seeking an Revenue Accounting Manager to join our growing Accounting team. As Shield AI continues to expand globally, this role presents an opportunity to support and enhance the accounting function at a high-growth, mission-driven technology company. As a Revenue Manager, you will be responsible for the entire revenue recognition process, from contract review to monthly transacting, while developing cross functional relationships with legal, business development and program finance.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the company’s ASC 606 revenue policies, including SSP analyses and allocations, as new products, pricing models, and contract structures are introduced.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on ASC 606, owning the end-to-end revenue accounting process and ensuring consistent application of revenue recognition policies across the organization.
  • Lead the monthly revenue close process, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, unbilled revenue, contract assets and liabilities, and related account reconciliations.
  • Review and analyze revenue results, including period-over-period fluctuations, revenue trends, and unusual or non-recurring transactions, and provide clear explanations and insights to Accounting and Finance leadership.
  • Oversee revenue-related journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and reconciliations, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately, timely, and in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
  • Partner closely with Revenue Operations, Billing, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, Sales, Legal, and other cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely execution of the revenue lifecycle from contract inception through billing and cash collection.
  • Establish and maintain operational revenue accounting processes, procedures, and controls to support a scalable and efficient revenue close as the company continues to grow.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve revenue accounting processes, systems, reporting, and data flows, including partnering with Finance Systems and Revenue Operations on system enhancements and implementations.
  • Develop and maintain revenue accounting controls and documentation in support of the company’s internal control and SOX readiness objectives.
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules, documentation, and responses to technical accounting inquiries.
  • Continuously assess revenue accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, scalability, controls, and efficiency as the business evolves.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience across public and private accounting, with a strong focus on technical revenue accounting under ASC 606/IFRS 15.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of general accounting concepts and ASC 606.
  • Deep understanding of order-to-cash (OTC) processes and how technical accounting decisions impact operations.
  • Experience with revenue recognition and OTC systems (e.g., Salesforce) or equivalent tools.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance protocols.
  • Experience with high-growth companies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and balance technical rigor with operational practicality.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to deliver results and meet expectations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical issues into clear, actionable guidance.
  • A data-driven mindset with a proactive approach.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Big 4 experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the Software as a Service (SaaS) and/or Platform as a Service (PaaS) industry is preferred.
