About the role

Position: Fitter/Fabricator Location/s: Ashland, VA Duration: 3 months contract to hire Shift: 1st Shift Schedule (offering work-life balance with Saturdays as needed) Pay Rate: Up to $25.00/Hour (Depending on experience) Benefits/Incentives: Insurance Offered (Medical, Dental, Vision, etc.) Qualdoc is seeking experienced Flux Core Welders and Welder/Fitters for our client in Ashland, VA. This role will be responsible for welding heavy industrial structural steel equipment and components using shop drawings for fabrication. This position is a contract with the potential to go full-time based on performance and business needs. Overtime!!!! 50-56 hours weekly!!

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and fit components according to shop drawings and specifications.
  • Perform high-quality Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and AWS weld symbols.
  • Produce welds that meet or exceed AWS D1.1 and D14.1 standards.
  • Pass a full-penetration vertical weld test and overhead fillet weld test.
  • Work safely in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Work 10-hour shifts and Saturdays as required.
  • Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Fitter/Fabricator or in a similar industrial role.
  • Ability to read shop drawings and interpret welding symbols.
  • Experience with FCAW welding.
  • Ability to pass the required welding tests.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
