Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join a structural steel fabrication team on 2nd shift. This role involves operating CNC equipment, processing structural steel components, and ensuring finished work meets quality and dimensional requirements.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines
- Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, blueprints, and work orders
- Load, position, and secure steel beams, plates, and other materials using overhead cranes and rigging equipment
- Monitor machine operation and make adjustments for accuracy and quality
- Use tape measures, calipers, squares, and other precision measuring tools
- Make basic programming edits and machine adjustments for different material sizes and thicknesses
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot basic CNC equipment issues
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment following OSHA and shop safety standards
Requirements
- 2+ years of CNC machine operation experience, preferably in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings
- Experience using precision measuring tools
- Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
