Principal Power Electronics Engineer
As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will lead the development, design, build, and commissioning of power conversion systems at Long Wall to support product tests, operations, and launches. You will have the opportunity to be a key member of a small team of mechanical, fluid, and electrical engineers working to develop innovative deployable launch solutions that enable the rapid deployment of Long Wall launch and test systems. This individual will be responsible for electrical design, testing, and integration from concept to production, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals. The engineer could also be involved in managing key vendor relationships and ensuring performance and reliability in our cutting-edge launch technologies. This is a role that contributes to every mission and every flight we fly as we continue to reimagine the future of missile defense systems.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert for power conversion activities within your assigned product(s).
- Develop electrical architecture, specification, component selection, circuit board design, implementation, verification, board bring-up, and debugging.
- Partner with software, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing teams, and production test teams.
- Derive engineering justification to resolve production issues throughout assembly, test, and vehicle integration
- Lead design reviews and generate documentation, including schematics, specifications, and test reports.
- Plan and execute development and qualification testing, analyzing data to verify performance and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field AND 10+ years of relevant experience.
- or a Master’s degree AND 8 years of experience.
- or PhD AND 5 years of experience
- Relevant Experience: working in space, aerospace, or equivalent professional environments with direct hands-on experience developing complex electrical power conversion systems.
- Expertise in power electronics design, including switch-mode topologies and feedback control
- Hands-on experience taking electrical hardware from concept through production
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer)
- Strong skills in lab-based testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of circuits and components
- Ability to collaborate across mechanical, thermal, software, and manufacturing teams
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
- Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone, and telepresence
- Ability to pick up to 50lbs
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
