This position is with the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) in the Office of the Technical Director. As an independent agency within the Executive Branch, the DNFSB is responsible for overseeing nuclear safety across the Department of Energy's (DOE) nuclear weapons complex. Summer scholars collaborate with leading nuclear safety experts to address critical and complex technical challenges that directly impact the safety of both the public and the workforce.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required. Suitable for Federal employment, determined by background investigation. Must obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation through Continuous Vetting throughout the duration of employment. All employees are required to be enrolled in Continuous Vetting, which authorizes government agencies to receive notifications of criminal activity and financial monitoring on individuals who hold low risk, public trust, or national security positions. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening in accordance with the agency Drug Free Workplace Program. Direct Deposit of pay is required. Selective Service registration required for male applicants, unless exempt. Status candidates must meet time-in-grade (see Qualifications). Must meet all conditions of employment listed under Stipulations of Employment below.
