About the role

Ro is a direct-to-patient healthcare company with a mission of helping patients achieve their health goals by delivering the easiest, most effective care possible. Ro is the only company to offer nationwide telehealth, labs, and pharmacy services. This is enabled by Ro's vertically integrated platform that helps patients achieve their goals through a convenient, end-to-end healthcare experience spanning from diagnosis, to delivery of medication, to ongoing care. Since 2017, Ro has helped millions of patients in nearly every single county in the United States, including 99% of primary care deserts. Ro is consistently recognized as a top workplace in Health Care, in New York, and for Women and Parents—earning more than 20 honors from Fortune, Great Place to Work, and PEOPLE since 2021. In 2025 alone, we ranked top 5 among medium workplaces in Health Care and New York, and top 50 nationwide. We are looking for an Associate, People Operations to join our team. This role sits at the center of People service delivery: you'll help manage the day-to-day operations of our People Service Desk, serve as a first point of contact for Ro'ers, and ensure employee requests are handled accurately, efficiently, and with care. This is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys solving problems and helping others. You’ll work closely with People Partners, Payroll, IT, and other cross-functional teams to resolve employee questions, maintain accurate HR records, and support a positive employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and manage People Service Desk tickets and Slack questions from employees and managers on onboarding, policies, benefits, PTO, employment verification, and HR systems, using SOPs and the knowledge base.
  • Interpret and apply People policies (PTO, leave, benefits, pay practices) to answer employee and manager questions accurately and consistently, working closely with People Partners and Payroll.
  • Escalate sensitive or complex matters (accommodations, employee relations, compensation, anything outside established policy or precedent) to the right People Partner or specialist, with full context.
  • Notice recurring questions and trends, and recommend practical fixes such as workflow improvements, new knowledge articles, or submission form changes to improve efficiency and reduce repeat requests.
  • Process employee lifecycle changes in UKG including new hires, manager and location changes, terminations, and other employee record updates, following established procedures.
  • Run data audits, support employment verification requests, and and help ensure employee records are accurate, complete, and handled confidentially.
  • Maintain and update People Service Desk resources, SOPs, knowledge base articles, checklists, and templates to support consistent and efficient service delivery.
  • Track recurring service desk issues and help identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve self-service resources, and reduce manual work.
  • Use approved AI and automation tools to work efficiently, verifying outputs and protecting sensitive data.
  • Provide backup support for new hire onboarding and other People Operations processes as needed, helping ensure a smooth employee experience and continuity of support.
  • 1–2 years of experience in HR, People Ops, recruiting coordination, or administrative roles that require project and stakeholder management.
  • A high sense of ownership and accountability. You're known for being organized, reliable, and proactive.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for creating clear, friendly, and timely messages.
  • Experience using tools like Google Suite, Slack, ticketing systems, and (bonus!) an HRIS like UKG Pro or Workday.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • A collaborative spirit and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
  • A passion for creating great experiences for others.
