Cable Repair Technician

The Cable Repair Technician repairs and builds the cabling that powers and controls the lighting on some of the largest live events, from rock concerts to theater shows. The successful candidate will be part of a small, warehouse-based repair team tasked with maintaining Christie Lites equipment to the highest standard. Based in our Orlando warehouse, this role focuses on cable soldering and connector termination: repairing and making XLR, 19-pin Socapex and 39-pin multipin (mass-pin) connectors. Extensive training and documentation will be provided on our procedures and quality standards. Responsibilities: • Diagnose and fix faults in Christie Lites rental cabling, including continuity and pin-out testing to find open, shorted and miswired conductors. • Repair and re-terminate XLR, 19-pin Socapex and 39-pin multipin (mass-pin) connectors by soldering, to Christie Lites wiring standards. • Carry out inspections, electrical testing and Quality Control procedures as defined in our documentation. • Order parts, log repairs and organize returns through our software systems. • Keep soldering stations, tools and the work area clean, safe and well maintained. Requirements Essential Attributes: • Proven hands-on experience with cable soldering, including soldering multi-conductor cable to connector solder cups. • Ability to repair and make XLR, 19-pin Socapex and 39-pin multipin (mass-pin) connectors neatly, accurately and consistently. • Able to follow pin-out and wiring diagrams and cable colour codes with a high level of accuracy. • Confident using a multimeter and cable tester for continuity and fault finding. • At home in a fast-paced, dynamic, warehouse environment. • Comfortable with MS Office applications and Windows. Desirable Attributes: • Experience working with stage lighting equipment. • Previous cable repair or cable assembly experience in the entertainment, touring or rental industry.
