Remote Estimator (Structural Steel Fabrication)

Job Title: Structural Steel Estimator Employment Type: Full-Time | Remote Experience Level: Mid to Senior Level Working Hours: U.S. Central Time Zone Salary: USD $1,500–$2,500/month (Depending on Experience) ABOUT THE COMPANY Our client is a growing commercial structural steel fabrication and installation company based in the United States. After recently restructuring its operations, the company is rebuilding its team and is looking for key hires to support its continued growth. They specialize in structural steel fabrication, miscellaneous metals, and steel installation projects for commercial construction. POSITION OVERVIEW The client is seeking a Full-Time Remote Structural Steel Estimator who will take ownership of the estimating process. This role will work closely with the owner to prepare accurate project estimates, allowing leadership to focus on project management and business operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Prepare accurate cost estimates for structural steel fabrication projects, including: • Structural steel • Miscellaneous steel • Stairs • Handrails • Pre-engineered metal building installations • Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and bid documents. • Perform quantity takeoffs using estimating software and manual markups when necessary. • Obtain and evaluate vendor and supplier quotations for steel packages, materials, and subcontracted work. • Work directly with company leadership to understand estimating methodologies, labor rates, overhead, and target profit margins. • Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and aligned with project profitability goals. • Utilize various estimating and construction management software platforms, including Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, and similar tools. • Maintain organized bid documentation and support project transitions after contract award. QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field preferred. • 3–12+ years of U.S. commercial construction estimating experience. • Strong experience in structural steel fabrication estimating. • Experience estimating miscellaneous metals and fabricated steel packages. • Proven experience obtaining vendor quotations and managing material pricing. • Proficient with construction estimating software such as: • Bluebeam • PlanSwift • Procore • Other industry-standard estimating platforms • Excellent English communication skills. • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS • Available to work 40 hours per week during U.S. Central Time business hours. • Strong proficiency with construction estimating software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, or equivalent). • Experience obtaining vendor and supplier quotations. • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to estimate accuracy. • Comfortable working within established estimating processes and workflows. • Direct structural steel fabrication estimating experience is required.
